Former Pro Basketball Player, Anthony Tucker, Announces Second Hoop Habits Minnesota Training Facility
Hoop Habits expansion aims to continue strengthening the pipeline for Minnesota’s top basketball talent.
Edina, Minn. (Jan. 14, 2026) — Hoop Habits, a basketball training organization founded by former professional basketball player Anthony Tucker, announces its expansion with the opening of a second training facility in Minnetonka later this spring. The new location marks a major milestone in the organization’s growth and its mission to develop Minnesota’s top basketball talent.
The new 41,000-square-foot facility will operate in addition to Hoop Habits’ current 6,500-square-foot training space located in Edina and will feature four full basketball courts along with dedicated areas for performance training, recovery and athlete education.
Tucker, a Minnesota native who played professional basketball internationally across nine countries, first launched Hoop Habits in April 2024 after identifying a gap in the state’s basketball development system.
“The people teaching the game were not always the ones who had lived it at the highest levels,” Tucker said. “Hoop Habits is trained exclusively by coaches who have played at elite or professional levels, because that perspective changes how athletes are taught and prepared. We wanted to create a place where standards are high and development is intentional and continuous.”
Over the past two years, Hoop Habits has scaled to support hundreds of athletes across training memberships, its proprietary Hoop Habits Academy, Hoop Habits Elite Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) programs for boys and girls, clinics and camps. As programs matured, demand consistently exceeded available space. Over the past 10 months alone, Hoop Habits has seen nearly 80 percent growth in membership, driven by demand for its professional-level training model and experienced coaching staff.
The second location will allow Hoop Habits to run multiple courts simultaneously, create more intentional development environments for athletes at different stages and expand Hoop Habits Academy and AAU programming. The facility will also support holistic athlete development including financial literacy courses for elite athletes, recruiting and NIL (name, image and likeness), orthopedic and sports performance services and college preparation.
Hoop Habits has trained some of the most elite basketball players to emerge from Minnesota, including Tyus Jones of the Orlando Magic, Tre Jones of the Chicago Bulls, Jamison Battle of the Toronto Raptors, and Jackson McAndrew of Creighton University Minnesota’s 2024 Mr. Basketball and Gatorade Player of the Year. The program also trains top emerging prospects, including Presley Watkins, the No. 2 ranked player in the Class of 2027, along with top 10 players in the 2027 MN basketball class, Gavin Walter and Luke Schroeder.
Alongside its facility expansion, Hoop Habits launched the Hoop Habits Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization created to address financial barriers that limit access to high-quality basketball development. The Foundation supports training, competition and resources for athletes and families navigating the youth basketball landscape.
