HOOP HABITS ACADEMY

Hoop Habits Academy, the first of its kind in Minnesota, is an all-encompassing program designed to maximize your athlete’s growth in a calendar year. Over the course of 12 months, we will provide the tools and master habits within the five pillars of our programming: basketball skills training, nutrition coaching, sports performance training, recovery, and sports mindset coaching. This is an “all-in” approach for basketball players looking to create monumental change on the court and maximize their potential. Enrolled athletes will truly live by the Academy’s mantra: We are what we repeatedly do.

Only 10 slots will be available for 2024/2025, therefore we will be using an application process. The Academy is open to athletes ages 10 through 18. Sessions will begin in September.

Please click here for the application and submit to tuck@hoophabits.com by August 30th.

Frequently Asked Questions

Basketball Skills Training

Skills training will be the foundation upon which Academy athletes master their ‘Hoop Habits’. On day one, we will conduct an individual player evaluation, identifying strengths and areas for improvement. Goal setting will be the next critical step. Together with our Academy Directors, Anthony Tucker and Jadee Jones, athletes and families will participate in a collaborative process to set concrete goals for the upcoming year. From there, we get to work. Each athlete’s schedule will be tailored to their specific needs (i.e. working around games and practices during basketball season) but will consist of up to five days of small group sessions, two individual skill sessions and one film study session per week. The focus of these workouts will vary throughout the year, always with the athlete’s unique needs and goals in mind. Progress report meetings will be conducted with athletes on a monthly basis, to ensure transparency throughout the process and ensure athletes, families and our team at Hoop Habits are all working together towards our common goal.

Nutrition Coaching

The nutrition coaching program for Academy athletes will begin with an initial foundational meeting to tailor the nutrition coaching journey to athletes’ specific needs, establishing a clear path for success. Athletes will then follow a consistent cadence of weekly touchpoints to share updates, ask questions, celebrate wins and reinforce accountability. Monthly check-ins will be more comprehensive, focusing on reviewing progress, refining goals and overcoming challenges. Education around nutrition timing, macronutrients, meal suggestions, among other topics, will be provided to athletes throughout their journey. Nutrition programming will be led by Julianna Quiring, Certified Nutrition Coach and founder of Wellness with Julianna.

Sports Performance Training

The sports performance training program will begin with an initial evaluation, assessing speed and agility, vertical leap, strength, flexibility, and mobility. Programming will be basketball-centric and will be customized to the unique needs of each Academy athlete, with the goal of maximizing on-court success. Each athlete’s comprehensive plan will flex throughout the year to address the specific demands and opportunities of their pre-, regular, and off-season.

Recovery

At Hoop Habits, we understand the critical role that recovery plays in reaching each athlete’s goals and potential. Academy athletes have unlimited access to our ‘Recovery Corner’ at Hoop Habits, which includes a variety of recovery tools such as localized cryotherapy, infrared sauna, and Normatec compression boots. Athletes will also be provided with exclusive access to recovery therapy sessions at Halo Cryotherapy.

Sports Mindset Training

Sports mindset training seminars will be conducted for all athletes on a monthly basis. This coaching is based on an influence process that leads to discovery, decision making, performance improvement, and better athletes. Built on the founding principle that every individual has the unique ability to accomplish great things, this proven program is designed to help athletes become the best version of themselves and build a mindset seeking growth. Coaching will be led by Abe Quiring, founder of Q High Performance Coaching.
