Hoop Habits celebrates grand opening of new Minnetonka facility, expanding one of Minnesota’s fastest-growing basketball development brands
Ribbon cutting ceremony April 23, followed by community grand opening celebration April 24
Minnetonka, Minn. (April 14, 2026) — Hoop Habits, one of Minnesota’s fastest-growing basketball training organizations, will officially open the doors to its new Minnetonka facility with a series of grand opening events beginning Thursday, April 23 with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a community open house event on Friday, April 24.
The new 41,000-square-foot facility marks a significant milestone in the company’s continued growth, expanding on the success of its original Edina location that opened in 2024 and further establishing Hoop Habits as a destination for elite athlete development in Minnesota.
The expanded footprint allows Hoop Habits to run multiple courts simultaneously, create more intentional development environments for athletes at different stages, and grow its Hoop Habits Academy and AAU programming. The facility is also designed to support holistic athlete development, offering resources including sports performance services, nutrition coaching, college preparation, recruiting and NIL guidance and financial literacy education.
“This opening is a major step forward for what we’re building, but it’s especially meaningful to be doing it here in Minnesota,” said Anthony Tucker, founder of Hoop Habits. “This is where I grew up playing the game, and to now be part of the continued growth of basketball in this state, while helping develop the next generation of players, is something I take a lot of pride in. Our goal has always been to create an environment where athletes can grow not just in their skill, but in their mindset, discipline and approach to the game, and this facility allows us to do that at an even higher level.”
Grand opening events include:
- Thursday, April 23 (10 a.m.): Ribbon cutting ceremony in partnership with the Excelsior and Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce, featuring remarks from founder Anthony Tucker and head of strategic partnerships at Hoop Habits, Chris Carr
- Friday, April 24 (5–7 p.m.): Open house for the community to meet Hoop Habits trainers, participate in a shooting contest for complimentary training sessions, a shoe drive benefiting Soles4Souls, limited Hoop Habits merchandise drops and food available for purchase from Tender Lovin Chix food truck
- Wednesday, April 29 (6–7 p.m.): Complimentary teen yoga class led by Sarah Elmtalab
- Thursday, April 30 (7 p.m.): Complimentary parent seminar, “Raising a Confident Athlete,” hosted by certified sports mindset coach Rachel Olson
Hoop Habits has trained many of Minnesota’s top basketball talents, including Tyus Jones of the Orlando Magic, Tre Jones of the Chicago Bulls, Jamison Battle of the Toronto Raptors and Jackson McAndrew of Creighton University, Minnesota’s 2024 Mr. Basketball and Gatorade Player of the Year. The program also works with emerging prospects such as Presley Watkins, the No. 2 ranked player in the Class of 2027, along with top-10 Minnesota players in the 2027 class, Gavin Walter and Luke Schroeder.
